WALKING TRAILS

This walking trail Caminho das Voltas takes place in Terra Alta, Santo Amaro Parish and it is called this way (turning track) because it really is that way… It consists in turns and twists trough endemic species, tunnels shaped by luxurious vegetation, vineyards and crop fields. Apart from that, it is also characterized by endless steps carved into the track and magnificent panoramic views over S. Jorge Island, the mountain Pico and the ocean. Along the walk you will have the opportunity to visit the regional crafts school, the maritime museum, the first naval construction and repair site of the Azores and the agricultural tools museum.
